Gutted we didn't get him for rest of season he's a good all round lad and a great striker.

PD, if they saw a creepy character like you in a children's ward, they'd probably call security.

He took a bit of time out to visit a sick kid, gives him a cuddle and now he's some kind of a hero in your eyes? Fucking hells bells..
Stop worshipping these overpaid footballers, you daft cunt.

Just seen him cuddling that little kid in bed, fuck football - that puts everything into perspective. Blokes gone right up in my estimation.

Defoe is just what they need now, an absolute game changer of the bench at key moments
Same next year and as a free, right up their strasse
We shall see of course but it all makes sense

"All secondary, as if he comes south I see nothing beyond the obvious of him returning to North London"
Except a) their main striker isn't crocked as often as ours is (scrub that: their main striker isn't crocked as often as both of our two are); b) they are even more likely to think "Defoe isn't good enough for us" than we are.

Gank - I get that and am of the school of thought that would agree with your sentiment, to the point that aside of football logic, fuck him
On a human level, his work with that lad, and the gratitude his parents must feel, is upon a different level and good to see
So, to qualify my position, although he would be a good footballing acquisition, fuck him but as a bloke, cap tipped and well done
All secondary, as if he comes south I see nothing beyond the obvious of him returning to North London

Not a marquee signing.
Take him if the price is right (probably need Sunderland to go down for this). Even promise him starts in the first few games he's with us, but only give him more if he produces.
Worth a gamble, if we realise that's what it is.
He's not a shit bloke, but he is ruthless when it comes to his career. We were on the wrong end of that, and it hurt. But let's be big about it. (No need to pretend he was "just a kid")

Bang on.
Defoe will have plenty of offers in summer if Sunderland sink. If/when Newcastle go up, can imagine them being in for him. Jermain likes a bit of local "betrayal" after all.
Plus, he'd be the perfect Toon foil for the returning hero Andy Carroll. (shoots head in brain.)

Plus he would be more motivated for us thus putting in more effort in games than say a bigger name player coming here for the pay day.

I agree, it is a very easy choice sign him up!
Stats show that he is in the form of his career, more runs, more distance covered and more goals per minute. He already has 14-15 goals, and he plays for sunderland. He looks after his body and has a good injury-free record.
He would be a great stop gap, as we are not going to be able to attract a lacerzette, bacca type player no matter how much money we throw at them.

1307 1:28 Fri Feb 10 Marquee signing = player wanted by clubs larger than/more successful clubs than us. Defoe a marquee signing? No chance.
Not sure that's so clear cut.
Defoe is exactly the type of player Fergie would have signed now if he was still at Man U, and then everyone would be calling him a genius because no-one could possibly have foreseen that a player who regularly scored 15-20 goals a season might actually score 15-20 goals in a season for him.

Nice picture of him in the paper today with a poor little boy who has terminal cancer.
Well done Jermain.

I dunno, maybe you should check Wikipedia? Although would it make him a better player if his middle name was Ivanhoe? ag!

We may somehow get next level players IN but the fact is they would be a small proportion of the squad and seeing as our injury record as a club is dire Defoe is a step UP in replacement option should those likely injuries occur.

If Defoe is available on a free in the summer it would be a no brainer to add him to our squad.
He was an idiot when younger but if he can do a job I am happy to have him. Time moves on and unlike the massive cunt Lampard I think he is REHABILITATED
I like him now There , I have said it
Lampard is still a Cunt though and I'd happily see him fall down a lift shaft

I would have welcomed JD's signing in January... but we should be able to get better in the summer given his age.
Same with the Sagna rumour. What is Sagna - 35? Spending huge amounts (salaries) on ageing players in the summer window would seem to just indicate lack of planning and scouting.
